Issue 6 December 2011

Welcome
This December we marked 10 years of Innovation and Enterprise at Invent. In celebrating our position as one of the leading Technology Transfer Offices in the country we held an event at The Helix DCU where we welcomed our clients past and present along with our partners and associates. See what happened below and please visit our photo gallery.  I would like to thank all those who joined us and helped make for a great occasion. We also commissioned a video highlighting the work that goes on at Invent so if you have a few minutes please take a look. I would like thank to Sixsem Productions for their efforts in producing this quality video.

This month we congratulate  DCU Spin Out Sonex Metrology who have recently closed their first round of investment. We also feature successes of two of our client companies M2C Wireless and Digitary who are both making good ground. Our Technology bank features Mobimate a mobile phone-based technology for the management and treatment of long-term chronic diseases.

This December we welcomed back our Operations Manager Maria Johnston who has returned from maternity leave and I would like to thank Sue O’Neill for her work and contribution at Invent during Maria's absence. We wish both of them well.

Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very peaceful Christmas, a prosperous New Year and thank you for your support during 2011.

As ever we are happy to hear from you so please email any information to our editor maria.johnston@invent.dcu.ie

Mobile Phone-Enabled Healthcare

Mobimate is a revolutionary mobile phone-based technology for the management and treatment of long-term chronic disease. To address the enormous global challenge represented by long-term chronic illness (responsible for 60% of deaths worldwide), low-cost, patient-focused healthcare technologies must be developed. Mobimate is a disruptive innovation with significant potential in the areas of Connected Health, Point-of-Care diagnostics, and in particular, home-based health monitoring.
